Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What is the Community Card?
It’s a hard plastic card that fits right in your wallet, costs only $10, and grants you the listed discounts at the participating Arlington businesses, all year long! It is a fundraiser for Thompson Elementary.
Question: Wow, can I get the discounts EVERY time I go to these businesses?
YES, use it again and again! You DO have to present the card at checkout to get the deals though, so just remember to keep it in your wallet, glove box, or any convenient place that works for you. You can even punch a hole in the corner and carry it on your key-ring if that makes it easy.
Question: What a great deal. I’ll make that $10 back in a snap with two visits to the Capitol Theater alone. Is there an expiration date though?
Yes, the cards expire Sept 30th, but new cards debut every year on Town Day.
Question: Is there a deadline to purchase a card?
Cards launch every year at Town Day, and then after that, they can be purchased at The Book Rack, at Menotomy Beer & Wine, and online via Paypal here
. Most cards are sold in the fall, and often there are a hundred or so left for purchase well into spring, but when they are gone, they are gone, so it’s always a good idea to grab one when you see/think of it!
Question: Do you have to be an Arlington Resident to buy and use the card?
Not at all! ANYONE who shops and dines in Arlington can (and should!) use this card. The card makes for a great gift to friends and neighbors too 🙂
Question: Is there a card limit per household?
NO! Buy one for every consumer in the family. You have to have the card on you at time of purchase to get the deal(s), so, it’s a worthwhile investment
Question: Where does the $10 go?
Thanks to generous sponsorship from Eastern Savings Bank, 100% of it goes DIRECTLY to Thompson Elementary PTO to cover enrichment costs like field trips (fees, buses, etc), author/artist visits, extra classroom supplies, etc. This is Thompson’s primary fundraiser.
Thank you for your support, and kindly tip your server on the original dollar amount before the discount – they deserve it!
