Parents Winter Party! Saturday, Jan. 26 @ Arlington Town Hall, 7:30 p.m.-12 a.m. The annual Winter Parents Party is only two weeks away! Get ready for a DJ, dancing, cash bar, some awesome raffle items, and most of all a chance to meet and socialize with other Thompson parents. Come enjoy a night out, you deserve it! All 21+ are welcome. The two organizers will need some extra hands leading up to and at the event. Can you help? 4th and 5th Grade Wednesday Morning Fitness Program Mr. Cavanaugh, Thompson’s physical education teacher, is running a 6-week fitness program for 4th and 5th grade students on Wednesday mornings starting at 7:30 a.m. The program is free for Thompson students. Students have the opportunity to participate in various fitness activities. The program still has a few openings! Please email Melissa Crowley, PTO Outreach Coordinator, directly at melish26@yahoo.com, if your child is interested in participating. The last session is scheduled for Feb. 13. |
2019 Thompson Schoolwide Yearbook Ordering / Picture Preference / Opting Out
We
are pleased to announce the annual Thompson Schoolwide Yearbook will be
making a return for the 2018-2019 school year! Helping our children
hold onto memories of friends from all across the school, the
soft-cover, 24-page, color book will display every class (K-5) with the
individual school portraits taken by Coffee Pond earlier this year,
along with the teachers and administration. The price is $14.85. A form
was sent home in your child’s folder last week that should be returned only if
your child had a retake photo or if, for any reason, you do not want
your child’s photo in the book. If you have any questions please direct

Green Team News 5th graders have started making Podcasts for the Planet with ACMi, and Ms. Dichter’s 2nd graders are adapting a song, Don’t Dump Trash. The PTO is bringing Bash the Trash to Thompson Feb. 6-8 to transform trash into a parade of musical instruments! Come to Green Team meetings after school Friday Jan. 18 and Friday Feb. 1 in Room 210. We will prepare for Bash the Trash, practice our Don’t Dump Trash song, and develop our Podcasts for the Planet! To become involved with Green Team, contact Elizabeth at egrocco@gmail.com. |

your favorite game(s) or try demo games from local company Gamewright.
Eat dinner before you come, or bring a picnic-style dinner to eat in the
cafeteria. Additionally, we will have healthy snacks, baked treats, and
drinks available for purchase. We will sell used games donated by
Thompson families and new Gamewright games. All profits go to the PTO. To donate a game or puzzle, bring it to the designated bin in the front lobby. Sign up to volunteer and/or donate food. |

AHS Building Project January Events As the Arlington High School Building Project progresses through the Schematic Design phase, the AHS Building Committee is hosting the following events to keep residents informed and offer an opportunity to ask questions. Having Courageous Conversations About Race with Our Children: 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 Join parents and guardians of students from all elementary Arlington Public Schools to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in talking about race and racism in our families. This educational forum will be lead by Dr. Liza Talusan, a nationally recognized educator on issues of diversity and inclusion.
